My Uncle Stanley Charles Lethbridge went to Canada and while my husband and I have been traveling here we visited Halifax Pier 21, I asked if my Uncle could be traced and I found the following information..
He travelled on the Megantic, arriving in Montreal 4th August 1929. He then lived courtesy of BICA at 87 Osborne Road. He came from Southsea, England . He was 15 years old when he arrived and was doing farm work. He was in a group of 13 others, according to the Immigration records. He returned to England, I am unsure when, and stayed till his death in late 1990’s.
I would love to find out where he was placed in Canada? And if you have any other information about who he travelled with, maybe their relatives?
His dob was 28-7-14 /13 .
Thank you

The places of birth are extracted from the Canada, Incoming Passenger Lists, 1865-1935, accessed on Ancestry.ca for the Megantic, arriving Canada 4 August 1929.
According to his Juvenile Inspection Card, he was first placed with James Wannamaker in Hartsmere, Hastings county, Ontario, but by the time someone came to inspect his placement in 1930, he had left. His second “home” was with C. McCann, #1 Eldorado, Hasting County. The notations on the inspection card are unclear. By the time his situation was inspected in October 1931, he was with Bert Bailey of Madoc, Hastings County. He was still with the same farmer when inspected August 1932. This was his last official placement. He completed his period of supervision under BICA. A final comment says that he was “A good lad and doing very well. Boy well satisfied.”
Stanley is next found on the UK Incoming passenger list of the Empress of Britain arriving 13 November 1934 in Southampton. He is 21 years old now and his destination address is 95 Frensham Road, Portsmouth.
He has not been found on the 1931 Census of Canada.
