My father, William Bert Weare, was a BICA boy, arriving in Quebec July 4th 1930, in a party of 15. Unfortunately, he didn't do well in Canada and returned to England in 1932, where he died in 1986. We have a photo of the group, taken beside the Duchess of York. An annotation says it was taken in Liverpool. My father is lower left of the group on the stairs, grasping the rail.

This might well be the only copy of this photo, so it may be useful to other BICA boys' relatives. The group code in the LAC database is Q30EM.

That is a wonderful photo. Too bad the other ships didn't have such a thing for families to see. But thank you for sharing. Again,wonderful.

Gerald, it is excellent to see an image of your father and the other boys who came over to Canada with him. Unfortunately, 1930 was bad timing with the economic situation and I believe there was pushback against people coming over to take jobs. I certainly hope he had a happy life after returning home and he was not permanently scarred by anything that happened in Canada.
