A Story Close to My Heart

One of my favorite projects was creating a family history book for my mother’s side of the family. It included genealogy, oral history interviews, and cherished photos. My Aunt Patty had always dreamed of documenting her childhood stories, but age and health challenges made it difficult.

When I took on the project, it became a gift of love. Patty’s joy upon receiving the book was indescribable—she shared it with everyone, even inspiring her caregivers to read it with her. Sadly, she passed away shortly afterward, but knowing I preserved her stories and brought her happiness during her final days is a source of pride and comfort.
